GENESIS 32:28 KING JAMES VERSION
And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but ISRAEL: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Understand, at the point of Genesis 32:28, "ISRAEL" appeared. ISRAEL is an actual Hebrew man who was named Jacob first. ISRAEL, which is Jacob, has a nation (sons and daughters) of people (Israelites) through copulation (procreation). He had twelve (12) sons and a daughter, but the focus is the twelve (12) sons of ISRAEL (Jacob). His twelve (12) sons had more children, making them a nation, sometimes referred to as nation of ISRAEL, tribe of ISRAEL, house of ISRAEL, house of Jacob, congregation of ISRAEL, children of ISRAEL, ISRAELITES, etc.

Seventy (70) Israelites from the loins of Jacob entered Egypt. In Egypt, (now Egypt, Africa), the Israelites became more numerous.  ALL Hebrew Israelites, at that time, were born in Egypt, (except the seventy (70) who came before).  Moses, the leader of the Israelites during the Exodus, was also born in Egypt.  Moses, of the tribe of Levi, which had an Ethiopian wife (Numbers 12:1 King James Version), and his brother, Aaron, was God-sent to lead the ISRAELITES in the exit from Egypt because of the hard labor (workforce).  This is called the EXODUS.  The ISRAELITES were in Egyptian oppression and bondage for 430 years.

Exodus 1:1-5
Now these are the names of the children of ISRAEL, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and JUDAH, Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

Deuteronomy 10:22
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Exodus 12:40-42 
Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.  It is a night to be much observed unto the Lord for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the Lord to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

Throughout their journey, the ISRAELITES would later inherit the land at the east of the Jordan River - the land of Canaan. Also, three (3) of the tribes of ISRAEL went back across the JORDAN RIVER and inherited the other side of the Jordan River. Israelites settled and surrounded around the Jordan River. They expanded from these areas, but the ISRAELITES would eventually scatter.  THE HEBREW ISRAELITES ARE IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE CHRIST WOULD COME THROUGH THIS BLOODLINE AND NATION.  CHRIST IS A HEBREW ISRAELITE FROM THE BLOODLINE OF JUDAH.  JUDAH is one of the twelve (12) sons of ISRAEL (Jacob). JUDAH's bloodline is also known as "ZION."

Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:  But chose the tribe of JUDAH, the mount ZION which he loved.

Psalm 87:4-5 

I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there. And of ZION it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.

Understand on maps now, which have been changed, ISRAEL is a state, but ISRAEL is a Hebrew man who increased children and bloodlines to become a nation, which is a family of kindred people. A nation is only made through copulation (procreation).
